Ebb Bayley (they/he) is a painter based in Berlin. Their work takes a speculative approach to mythology and folklore- focused on creatures positioned at the edge of the human.
They use multiple painting languages to gather parallel worlds, deploying painting as a form of collection and recounting. The dissolving fragmented forms and static textures reflect Ebb’s own vision and visual disability.
The framing of saint, icon and archetype is put towards a heroic repositioning of monstrous creature-kin. Ebb uses painting as a tool to open and occupy aspirational cracks in cautionary tales, retelling stories of transformation through a transgender lens.
